Peter Nealen is a former Reconnaissance Marine and veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. He deployed to Iraq in 2005-2006, and again in 2007, with 1st Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Recon Bn. It’s unavoidable with the SOCOM 16 in that chassis. Look at the photo on top of the blog. The basic front sight for the SOCOM is part of the gas block, but can’t be used as the front sight on the MCS chassis. So yes, there are two front sights. One of them is an artifact of the way the basic weapon is built.
Not trying to be a dick or anything, but it looks like the gun in the foreground had two front sights.
